How to see who someone recently followed on Instagram
Three steps from a username to a dated list of recent follows. The check is free and needs no Instagram login; the list itself takes the paid plan.

Enter the public Instagram username
Type the handle (with or without the @) into the box at the top of the page. The check works for any public account; private accounts and very large or Instagram-limited lists cannot be tracked.

Read their recent follows, dated by day
On the paid plan, the account's new follows show up dated the day we first see them. A follow can take a few days to appear, and follows from the same day have no order. Recent followers are tracked the same way.
Instagram doesn't show the order of follows
Open any profile's Following list in the app and you get the full list with no dates and no sort control, and since September 9, 2026 its order no longer reflects when each follow happened.

The public/private boundary is Instagram's own: on a public profile the following list is visible to anyone, on a private one only to approved followers (see Instagram's help page on public and private accounts). Tools claiming to reveal private accounts or recover deleted data are either scams or credential harvesters.

How do I see who someone recently followed on Instagram?
Type their public username into the box at the top of this page to check whether recent follows work for that account. On the paid plan, IGDetective lists the accounts that profile started following, each dated the day we first see it, with no Instagram login. Instagram's own app shows no dates on someone else's Following list.
Can I see who someone recently followed if their account is private?
No. This works for public Instagram profiles only. On a private account the following list is visible only to approved followers (Instagram documents the split in its help page on public and private accounts), so it is not public data and no legitimate tool can show it. Any service claiming to reveal a private account's recent follows is not telling the truth.
Is there a free way to see recent follows on Instagram?

How recent is “recent”?
Recent means new since tracking started. Each follow is dated the day we first see it, not the time it happened, so there is no order within a day, and a follow can take a few days to appear. Accounts they already followed before tracking began are not shown as recent.
What is the difference between recent follows, recent followers, and mutuals?
Recent follows are accounts the profile recently started following (outbound). Recent followers are accounts that recently started following the profile (inbound). Mutuals are accounts where the two follow each other. The free check above shows whether recent follows and recent followers work for a given account.
Can I see who my boyfriend or partner recently followed on Instagram?
